De-virginized!...

...so to speak. So I finally, after many years of fandom, got to go to my first DM concert last night! I went to the Santa Barbara show, and it was awesome. Technical problems not withstanding...about four songs into it, in the middle of Walking In My Shoes, *poof*, the stage power went out. Mikes and everything. Methinks it was probably the cool LED screen they had behind them. So after about ten minutes they came back on, minus the LED screen and continued performing. It was actually really neat withOUT the screen, because at that point it was all about the music. They did get the screen working for their encores.

I was a bit surprised, considering this is an album tour, that they only did about four songs from SOTU, then the rest of the show was older stuff. Not that I minded listening to the classics, far from it, it was one of the best shows I ever saw.

Also, I was amazed when Martin came on and sang...he sounds, like, EXACTLY the same live as he does on a studio recording. What a voice he has. I also loved the silver sequined suit (say THAT five times fast) he was wearing.

Yeah they seem to. I was happy that they played a lot of their older music though, because honestly I don't think SOTU was one of their best albums. But DM has always been my favorite band (I grew up listening to them because my mom is also a fan) :D

For some reason, that makes me feel old...

Yes, I like SOTU but it's not their best. Of course, I felt that way about PTA at first, now it's one of my favorites.

Congratulations! I went to NY and LA, but sadly not the other two shows I had tix for - SF and SD. I thought the show was great, though I'm always picky about the setlist. They did plenty from Black Celebration, which I love, but they don't do enough old stuff for me. They tend to do the same songs on each tour which kinda drives me nuts. Ahhh well, I'm just happy to have seen them at all since this tour seems to be cursed!
