From DepecheMode.com
Depeche Mode will shut down Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles for an exclusive outdoor nighttime performance to be broadcast live on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, April 23 (12:05-1:05 a.m. ET/PT). This will be Depeche Mode's first late-night talk show performance since announcing their upcoming "Tour Of The Universe," which will include material from their highly anticipated twelfth studio album Sounds Of the Universe (Mute/Capitol/Virgin) to be released on April 21st. The band's special performance will feature a multi-song set for the fans on the boulevard including two songs to be broadcast on Jimmy Kimmel Live! one of which will be their new single, Wrong. This unique performance will take place on a custom-built stage on the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Vine St. at the doorstep of the new W Hollywood Residences.

---------------------------
I went to 1iota.com yesterday and got 2 free tickets. The show is open to the general public as well, but if you get your tickets from 1iota then you have a chance to be in a pent off area right in front of the stage. The reason I say chance is because 1iota is a f*cked up company. They staff studio audiences, but are known for overbooking and than picking and choosing the "pretty people" to come in with no regard to how long you were there.

Re: DM to play free show in Hollywood 4/23
Fri, April 10, 2009 - 12:09 PMYeah i had rumours about this but when I checked iota last it wasn't up there...I just submitted a request but how long did it take to get confirmation? Not even sure I can go but thought I would at least try!
I have heard about the Red velvet rope bullshit, but my friend has gone to see a couple of Jimmy Kimmel live shows and never had a problem getting in, as she's not exactly blonde and busty :)
THANKS! -

Re: DM to play free show in Hollywood 4/23
Fri, April 10, 2009 - 5:06 PMI got my confirmation immediately. Your friend was lucky. My only 2 experiences with 1iota were horrible. Both times I was seeing The Cure. The first time a large group of us camped out overnight, only to be put up in the seats, not even on the floor. When we spoke to the guy in charge, he was rude to most of us and told us we could just leave if we are not happy. The next time, I waited in line for over 8 hours, only to be kicked out (for a completely unjustified reason) by the same guy that was rude before. He then threatened to kick some of the others out when they tried to stick up for me.
I love DM, but I won't be camping out or showing up ridiculously early just to get close. They do oversell, so if you want a chance to get in, make sure you get there at least 3-4 hours early. -

Re: DM to play free show in Hollywood 4/23
Fri, April 10, 2009 - 9:37 PMhmmm...well I just checked and it still shows my tickets are "pending"....I'm sure once it went up on the website they got deluged with requests. Oh well, I mean I supppose I could just fly down there and show up a few hours early, but not sure if I can commit to all that. PLUS I am going to see DM 4 TIMES on this tour! call me greedy :)
thanks for all the info! Your past experiences sound very SUCK ASS! -

Re: DM to play free show in Hollywood 4/23
Mon, April 20, 2009 - 3:34 PMWell this sucks!! Apparently the response was going to be sooooooo overwhelming that they have decided to not open this show to the general public. Only those with 1iota tix will be let in. Grrrrrr.... -

Re: DM to play free show in Hollywood 4/23
Tue, April 21, 2009 - 12:18 AMI actually got tix. I wasn't expecting to! So I'll be there...look for me! :) -

Re: DM to play free show in Hollywood 4/23
Fri, May 1, 2009 - 7:55 PMHow was view from the stage? I watch the performance on Jimmy Kimmel and the crowd did not look enthused. -

Re: DM to play free show in Hollywood 4/23
Sat, May 2, 2009 - 2:07 PMwell my section was enthused but I will say that: 1.) I think everyone was TIRED...My friend and I arrived at 3:30 and DM came on at 8:30. 5 hours of standing around waiting being smooshed no food no bathroom and barely drinking any water. 2.) they showed a lot of the VIP/industry types who didn't seem to give a shit. The people up front I think won their pit access through the DM website, so they were real fans, but a lot towards the back were the jaded people who prob didn't care a whole lot.
It was SO worth it though! I have been waiting for the rest of the concert to go up online... -

Re: DM to play free show in Hollywood 4/23
Sun, May 3, 2009 - 11:51 PMI actually never made it. I got sick. Blah. The day of the show I had a horrible sore throat and fever/chills. Had it been a normal show(sans all the waiting) I would have sucked it up and gone, but I know how these shows work and I was not up to hours and hours of waiting. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: DM to play free show in Hollywood 4/23
Mon, May 4, 2009 - 3:03 PMthat's too bad. I would say it was definitely worth all the waiting, but you will get to see them on their tour, yes? take your vitamins! :) -
